 Now on to my project!
Recently Perfect Paper Crafting introduced the NEW Mini Sized Perfect Layer Rulers. I honestly didn't think they would be that different, but I can say they are! Because they are shorter, they are quicker to handle and that makes it even faster and easier to add my layers on card projects.

I had a new background stamp "Hello World" sitting on my desk and that inspired my cards for today. Serendipity Stamps just released this new image made up of the word HELLO in all different languages and alphabets. I decided to make up a few cards for Operation Write Home. I paired up the background with a die set from Paper Smooches called Hello Word Dies. These are a little bit simpler than my normal cards. WHile there is not coloring going on today, I think these really show off how a simple card can be jazzed up easily using Perfect Layer Rulers! I changed up layers and layouts just slightly on each card.

For each Hello World background, I stamped using Versafine Onyx Black and the heat embossed using Clear Detail Embossing Powder.

With the word dies, I cut each word out of background color paper and then another color, piecing the word back in place. In keeping with OWH rules this helps to keep the card flat for easy mailing. Each card has one layer of foam tape somewhere for a just a little added dimension.

I couldn't resist sneaking a bow in there on one card.... It's silk so super lightweight and easy to mail for OWH!

I added a liner with a layer in each card as well. If you have layers on the front it only makes sense to match up the inside too!

Impression Obsession - Sweet Daisy

Die's have been the focus this week for most of my posts and I thought my Copics were calling me... so I colored up these sweet little daisies tonight! Actually, the image is called Coneflowers... but I think they morphed in to daisies nicely for my card! After coloring them I really wanted the image to remain the focus of the card, so I kept the rest of the card pretty simple and mainly white. I LOVE white on white but it's hard for me to make a card like this. I have a real compulsion to color it all and cover it all up!

The image is much larger than this, but I knew I was going to frame just a portion of it, so I went ahead and cut out a square to work with. You can see the Copics I used. I always do my background first.

As a final touch.... a touch I can't seem to stop from using on everything.... a little sparkle from my Clear Wink of Stella Brush Pen. Oh, how love this pen!!! I'm normally not a glitter girl, but this subtle quick drying sparkle is totally cool!

I doubled up my frame.. cutting it a second time to get an extra layer. The bottom frame is cut in each corner, giving me four pieces and I just extended them out a tiny bit to add an additional layer.... foam tape in between for dimension too! You can see the breaks in the second layer in each corner on the first picture showing the full card.

I always like to add a sentiment on the inside... but I was loving the clean crisp feel of the white look. I stamped the image in the corner on a liner using Scattered Straw Distress ink and left it open for an any occasion card.

The new Tea Pot and Tea Cup Dies have an elegant feel to them and I started off doing an more elegant project... but I changed direction and decided to do something fun and bright instead! I think this makes for a fun girlfriend card! I stamped the new sentiment "A Woman is Like" in Versafine Onyx Black and airbrushed over the sentiment using Copic R37.

After airbrushing over the hot water sentiment, I added some piercing while the paper was still in the die, using the inside edge as a guide. I hand cut a few more layers. The fun polka dot paper is actually from Bo Bunny's Mistletoe Collection. I loved the variation in reds with in the polka dots and I thought it matched the variation in the air brushing. I also airbrushed some color on paper to back behind the cut out floral design in the tea pot

On the inside... lotsa layers to match up with the front of the card! I stamped the Tea Border on red in black and just added a decorative strip. The finished card is an A2 and opens at the bottom, tent style.

Since Easter is right around the corner I thought I'd play with the new little Rabbit Die Set. Authentique's Sweetness paper collection was full of fun pastels perfect for Easter. I used the Lg. Window Die to make a little shadowbox for the little bunnies.

I cut the window die twice. I added tape to the back of the die cut windows so that all the pieces would stay together. I glued a few of the bunnies in to the windows. The other two bunnies will be added in with foam tape and not attached to the window.

I used foam tape to add dimension between the two windows.

I used the Square Shaker Frame Die to frame the bunny window. Since the shaker frame is square, I just cut it in the middle and extended it to a rectangle shape. I used the pink strip in the middle to cover the gap.

The cute little sentiment is from the Clear Set: Easter Basket. I used the new Fancy Cut Out Border Die along the left side and then topped the circle lattice design with some Tiny Flowers.

Hope you are enjoying the great die ideas the team is sharing as much as I am! For today's card I chose to make the new Large Bird on Branch Die the focus. I used the Square Shaker Frame to frame the bird. I cut it twice, once in ivory and once in blue. I used a square die to cut away more of the inside on the blue frame to get a layered look.

Here's the base of the card. I used a square die to cut out a window in the card base and the front layer panel. I wanted the opening to go all the way through since I was going to use vellum. The vellum would allow some light to come through. I lightly distressed the edges with a Creamy Brown Chalk cats eye ink pad.

Here you can see my card coming together. The bird and branches are tucked in between the ivory and blue frame. I used foam tape in between the two frames as well to give it more dimension.

I backed the frame with vellum before adhering it to the front panel. You can see it is a thick vellum... my fingers are just shadows behind the vellum. But when the card opens it lets the light come through nicely. I added "fly" using the new Typewriter Alphabet Die.

Here's the inside... I used the clear set You can Fly for the sentiment. This set is full of great sentiments to go along with our Feather Dies or any of the Bird Dies.

When the card is closed, the vellum is thick enough not to show the inside of the card. The finished card is 5" square and opens at the bottom tent style.
