When I read the challenge note of no coloring... I was was thrown for a minute, because usually that's exactly what I like to do with Flourishes images! But I quickly got in to the spirit of the challenge and decided to use the Chalkboard Technique along with the Just my Type set.

I heat embossed on flat (no texture) black card stock using Detail White embossing powder. I used my finger to rub on some Moonlight White Brilliance ink.

I left the inside blank for an any themed card. Finished card size is an A2.

Of course my first love is Copics when it comes to card making. Give me some pretty images and I can just sit and color for hours! I only used a portion of the Two Bunnies image for my card today.
I airbrushed with a little Y17 around the top edges. I didn't bother to mask anything since my top colors would be darker.

Here are the other Copics I used to color the image.

I added a border to the image using Border Duo Three. The bunny panel is popped up using foam tape. I used the House Die to create my card base.

On the inside I added the Sweet Wishes sentiment and a cute little bunny die embellishment.

SSCB #28 Part Two - Sheet Music or Newsprint

The first time I used the new Shamrock Die I made a Valentine Card with it. So I thought I would try it out in green today! I used foam tape to pop up the newsprint panel and the shamrock for some dimension.

You can see above my color blending... pretty primitive today! I used a dictionary type paper from Authentique. I was short on time and just took my ink pads direct to paper.... dragging both colors around randomly.

I added some banner elements and mounted my "color blended" newsprint piece and cut it all out using Spellbinder's Labels 8. The card base is made with Decorative Labels Eight Die Set. A few little adhesive crystals and of course I could not resist a tiny bow to embellish.

On the inside I added the St. Pat's sentiment stamped in Memento Bamboo Green.

I know... I went purple again! I had it sitting on the desk and I just got this yummy purple seam binding that sparked the color theme! I inked up the hot air balloon from the very cute Lots of Thoughts set for my card.

I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and used Copics to add some quick color to three balloons. I hand cut them out after coloring them.

I embossed the white panel behind the balloons with a cloud design. but it got kind of lost as I added three balloons. The original plan was for just one... but it looked to alone. I don't do well leaving white space, I always feel I need to cover it all!

The sentiment is stamped in Memento Elderberry and is from the Lots of Thoughts Stamp set too. The finished card is 4 1/4" square.

I pulled a piece of paper out of the new Authentique collection "Suave" for my wood element. I love this image, even though it features a little boy, it still reminds me of my dad. My father has such a love for fishing and he raised my brother and I as a single parent... with a lot of love and a lot of time spent fishing.

I did a little airbrushing... I enhanced the horizon line. I masked the top of the image and airbrushed B34 on the bottom. I airbrushed N4 on the top. I used the Fur Technique with my Copic Colorless Blender Solution to get the textured effect on the grey portion.

As usual, I added a liner on the inside with my left over scraps. Not sure what I'll end up using this card for, so I left the inside blank for now.

  • Stamps by Flourishes: Kids Play Set #SS125 - still available!
  • Ink: Versafine Onyx Black

I used Spellbinder's Grand Scalloped Squares to create my Pea Package card.  Both the image and sentiment I used on the inside are sold together in a set. The card is 4 1/2" square. I distressed it... well sorta.... this is about as distressed as I can go! lol! I used a Chestnut Roan cat's eye ink pad to edge the all the panels before assembling the card.

I colored up the peas with Copics. Easy Peasy! Couldn't resist that one. I used to say that on my blog ALL the time until someone kept reminding me of how much I used it! The peas really are an easy color job. I went with brighter Copics to match up to my bright green papers. I cut a second set of peas out to pop up.

When I was finished with the card I went back on the peas and added some small white hi lights using my White Sharpie Pen.

Here's the inside of the card. I stamped the Two Peas sentiment in versafine Sepia Brown. I added layers using my left over scraps.

Time is speeding by and I still have Valentine Cards to make! I inked up a favorite Flourishes set #SS182 Love Sweet Love (retired) for the image on the front of the card. I used Spellbinder's Decorative Labels 28, Labels 28 and Labels 21 for the layers and card base.

My poor Copics were getting a bit dusty. I've been doing so many "die" focused cards lately. No worries, they dusted off easily! The background was colored with E50, direct to paper, not airbrushed. The other colors are here and there, just a quick color on the image.

I added some Clear Wink of Stella Glitter to 3 of the hearts.... which looks sparkly and great in person, but a little strange in the above picture!

The sentiment is from the Roses are Red Set which is still available. The button row are stamps in the Country Charm Borders set, also still available.
  • Flourishes Stamps: Retired-Love Sweet Love Set #SS182, Roses are Red Set #SS227, Country Charm Border Set #SS154
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versafine Onyx Black

IO - Cupid Be Mine!

The Cupid Dies from Impression Obsession have been so popular! It makes for a great starting point to create a Valentine card! I cut the cupid twice... in red and black. I added the black cupid behind the red, giving it a very subtle shadow. The new XOXO background was a perfect fit as a back ground.

Cupid is popped up and framed by a die from Spellbinder's Antique Frame and Accents #S5-083.   The "Be Mine" script sentiment is from the clear set Valentine Hearts. I added a few additional layers to the sentiment using my Perfect Layer Rulers

On the inside I stamped the Valentine Wishes sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black. I used the Double Heart Edge Die along the bottom, piecing a few hearts back in. The finished card is an A2 and opens tent style.
