Impression Obsession Butterfly

Well.... This card is simple and could be reproduced fairly quickly... I worked on it for over two hours. I'm not even kidding. I die cut a lot of layers using different colors and played around mixing and matching. I ended up with all white! Sometimes the mojo flows and sometimes not so much! I used only a portion of the Paris Postcard image as the focus of my card.

You can see I stamped the butterfly twice and then cut the second butterfly, cutting along the butterfly edge. Not a lot of technique on the coloring, just add colors around blending one color in to the next. Y23 covers the entire butterfly as my last layer of color.

I gently bent the wings of the second butterfly. I glued the body down flat and then the wings are supported using dimensional silicone. The silicone will dry with the curve in place, which means the wings will never go flat.

On the inside.... I used the Scalloped Flag Die to add my sentiment. You can also see I added a plain white layer on the inside... this just gives the back flap of my card a little extra support. I also prefer to use 110# paper for may card bases, especially when the card is made from delicate dies.

  • Stamps by Impression Obsession: F8864 Paris Postcard, CS377 Kate (sentiment)
  • Dies by Impression Obsession: DIE015-F Flag Die Set
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versafine Onyx Black
  • Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White #110
  • Other: Marianne Creatables Square Frame Die #MLR0234 (Outside Square Layer), Nellies Multi Frames Stichting Square 1 #MDF033 (all other die cuts on the front of the card), Bow Easy Tool, May Arts Ribon, Foam Tape, Dimensional Silicone

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday #226 - Make a Splash!

Broni is our challenge hostess today and her challenge is to Make a Splash.... use watercolors, a water scene, you get the idea!  Find all the details of how to enter the challenge on the Flourishes BlogCheck out what the team came up with this week!

FTTC#226 Make a Splash!

I pulled out the Swan Lake Set for today's challenge. It certainly met the water challenge! I had never inked up this set so I was pleased to finally have a reason to ink it up. Lots of scenes to create with this set, mixing and matching different elements... it depends on how much masking you are willing to do.

I stamped my swan first I masked it using Eclipse Tape and then I stamped the foreground and last the background. I added a little moon circle using Eclipse Tape and then airbrushed. You can see the colors I used to airbrush in the picture above.

After airbrushing, I added more coloring to the image using the pictured Copic Markers.

Here's the up close picture. I stamped and cut out a second swan wing, which is popped up for dimension. The little hello sentiment is from the Tag Lines set. It fits perfectly in to the smallest die from Spellbinder's Floral Ovals. I added some foam tape in between layers for dimension and of course some ribbon and bow to embellish!

Here's the hop list....

Jenny  - you are here!

I used the Tiddly Ink's clear set Birthday Wishes for my card. This little cutie was a quick color job and fit perfectly in Spellbinder's Resplendent Rectangles

Here's the inside of the card. I used my Perfect Layer Rulers to frame my inside panel... 1/16" for the blue and 1/8" for the orange border.

Here's a little close up... I colored the image with Copics and stamped on Neenah Classic Crest Natural White. I used the new papers from Graphic 45's Bohemian Bazaar 8x8 Collection for my card and added a little blue card stock around the tag. Foam tape between the layers add a little dimension.

For my second card I used the Too Cute to Spook clear set from Tiddly Inks.  If there is a stamp set with a kitty in it, of course I'm all over it! My first Halloween card this yesr.... I love it! My favorite cards to make!

The Perfect Layer Rulers are amazing and help me so much with layering. One of my top three tools! I pulled out some old Basic Grey paper from the Eerie Collection for the first layer of the three background strips. Little Witchy is colored with Copics and airbrushed a little orange around the edges. The sentiment and the witch are popped up with foam tape.

Here's the inside. I almost always add a liner and layers on the inside of the card. With layers on the front, adding layers on the inside just make the card feel more balanced and complete.

Here's the hop order one more time so you can continue on your way!

I went traditional with the Red, White and Blue color combo! I started my card by using the Impression Obsession Cover-a-Card We the People to create my stamped background. I used the Circle Shaker Die Cut to create the frame around the shaker pouch.  I filled the shaker pouch with a little of the Patriotic Mix from Flowersoft. The stamp is from great Americana set from IO called Let Freedom Ring.
I thought some sparkly swirls might brighten things up and also it reminded of fireworks!

Here's the hop list!

Jeanne @ Inky Paws
Jenny @ One Krafty Kat - you are here!
Julie @ Out to Impress
Kittie @ Kittie Kraft
Laura @ Laura's Stamp Art Journal
Vicki @ Summerthyme Studio

I think the new Bohemian Bazaar collection from Graphic 45 certainly fits the theme of Summer Colors! I cut the circle base from the IO Circle Shaker Die and ran it through a CB Folder to add some embossing. I added the printed chipboard circle and then used the IO Fancy Butterfly Die in the center of it, popping it with Dimensional silicone to keep the wings curved. I cut the solid butterfly out of yellow for the bottom layer. For the fancy butterfly I positioned the die cut evenly over a flower in the printed paper... that way the colors and the design are some what symmetrical.

A border die and left over paper strips accent the inside of the card.

I added the Summer Strip along the bottom to fit with the challenge. There is a great Summer Themed Clear Set that has some great sentiments for fun summery cards or layouts!

Jenny Gropp - you are here!

For our Basket Case Challenge I chose the Large Daisy Basket to play with. I changed up the daisies to be sunflowers.... I think they work! Really I think these flowers could be used with any color scheme! I used Spellbinder's Grand Labels 11 to create my card base.

Here are the Copics I used to color the image. After I colored the image I added the brown edge, using a Chestnut Roan Cats Eye.

On the inside of the card I added a portion of the Small Daisy Basket

I added a bit of Ranger's Crackle Accents to the flower centers.

FTTC#225 Scallops!

I inked up the new set Berry Sweet Frames to create my card this week. I used the Victorian Ovals Die Set to create the red layered frame. Can you tell I'm a fan of paper piercing? Even more of a fan when the dies do it for you! I added some foam tape in between layers for dimension.

These are the Copic Collections I used to color up the sweet cherries!

I didn't want to cover up all the pretty piercing, so I kept the embellishments minimal. I added a button and a little seam binding bow.

Here's the inside of the card. I added a sentiment from the Hello Hyacinth Set.

  • Flourishes Stamps: Berry Sweet Frames Stamp Set, Hello Hyacinth Stamp Set
  • Flourishes Dies: CD004 Perfectly Pierced Victorian Ovals Die Set
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versafine Onyx Black, Versafine Crimson Red
  • Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Natural White 110#, Red, Green Patterned paper from Jillibean Soup - 12x12 Stewed Beef, Olive
  • Other: Spellbinder's Ovals and Scalloped Ovals, Copics, Seam Binding, Bow Easy Tool, Misc. Button, Foam Tape, Nellie's Choice Stitching Die Set #AND003 to create the card base

Since Sneak Peek Day 1 overlaps with the Timeless Tuesday Challenge, we have some amazing projects showcasing our newest beautiful floral stamp set by Marcella Hawley today... This stunning new stamp set features a glorious spray of wildflowers along with some wonderfully heartfelt sentiments.  It will be a 'must-have' on your shopping list this week! For this challenge, create a card or project that moves or opens in a non-traditional manner (FTTC224)!  In other words, create a card that doesn't just open normally.  Maybe it has a third panel like a tri-fold card or it has a greeting tag that pops up when you pull a ribbon! There are lots of fun tutorials you can try out.  Here are just a few examples of some great card tutorials that will fit perfectly for this week's challenge:
Circle Side Step Card - this is what I used... Beate gives excellent instructions!
I was excited to color up this new stamp set Picking Wildflowers! I always enjoy coloring flowers with Copics!  I created a Circle Side step card using Beate's great instructions. I tried to take the picture at an angle so you could see the side steps. I have to say this was pretty easy... Generally I'm not a fan of following measurements and rules! I used the second largest Circle Die in SPellbinder's Grand Circles for my card base. The other two die cuts are both from Spellbinder's Floral Ovals set, which really give the card a feminine feel with all the delicate edges.

I was trying to match the green in my printed paper on the card. Believe it or not there was not one Copic green that gave me the same tone, so I used two! I gently airbrushed YG03 and YG63 around the edges of my oval. I did not bother masking anything, I rarely do.

Here is the up close picture. The image is popped up with foam tape. On the small purple flowers I added a yellow center using my Light Yellow Viva Pearl Pen.
