Acorns & Chevrons

Fall will be here soon! I hope...  sick of the heat and humidity here in Atlanta for sure! I thought these little acorns (a new image from IO) would make for a fun and quick fall card. Sorry for the absence in Blogland... we have had family in town from Germany and things of been busy in general! I also have done a major overhaul in my craft rooms! So stay tuned for pictures... It took about four days of moving, sorting, organizing... trying to decide what I needed to pass on and what I could not part with! My room was in dire need of a clean up! I've moved all my stamps in to one room and all craft supplies are in another room. I was afraid the husband was gonna call that Hoarders show on me! 

I started by stamping the acorn and sentiment on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White. I left the circle in the Nestie and airbrushed a little E43 for the background. I added some piercing around the edge as well.

Quick to color, adding colors in layers and smoothing them out with the YR31. I used the Blender to lift a little color. 

Chevron patterns still seem to be a hot trend. I used My Favortite Thing's Chevron Die Cut to cut multiple chevron pieces. I used adhesive and arranged all the chevron pieces in a stacked pattern. After they were all glued then I cut a clean rectangle. I framed the chevron rectangle with a few small layers. Of course I managed to fit a little bow in there too!

Patchwork Pumpkin

The Serendipity Design Team is sharing creations today. Our theme was to Heat it up using Heat Embossing somewhere on our design. Check out what the other gals came up with today: Amy -  Miriam -  Jeanne

 I thought I would ink up this little patchwork pumpkin and color it up. This is a great image to paper piece too! But it is hard for me to not use Copics. I stamped the image in Memento's Espresso Truffle ink, my new absolute favorite ink color. Yes... the challenge was to use heat embossing and I did, but I did it on the inside of the card! I'm not a fan of using Copics with heat embossed images. 

 Above you can see the colors I started with to add a little glow around the outside. I used Y28 to color the ground. I used Spellbinder's Labels One to cut out the image and before removing the paper from the die I added the piercing, using the inside edge as a guide. 

Above are the Copics I used to complete the pumpkin. I stamped the image twice and cut out the leaves from the second stamping after I colored them. I curved them gently to have a little dimension and used Dimensional Silicone to apply them over the original leaves. 

 Above is the inside of the card... and the heat embossing! I used my Copics to color in the leaves. I stamped with Versafine Sepia Brown and used Clear EP to heat emboss. 

I hand cut a brown layer around the image, and popped it with foam tape. The ivory layer is also popped up with foam tape adding a little dimension. The finished card is 4 1/2" square.

Last day of previewing the new CHA images from Impression Obsession!!!

I thought I'd finish off the week with a summery card. It's hot and humid every day here in Atlanta. I'm sick of it! I made the dirt red in the scene.. that's what Georgia red clay looks like! This scene colored up very quickly because most of it is the large wagon. 

Yikes... this pic is totally out of focus. I'm sure it was the camera and not me, lol! Sorry about that! But you can still read the Copic Numbers, maybe you might have to squint a little! I used E30's on the wagon... they blend quickly and easily.

I added a lot of layers here using the 1/16" edge on the Perfect Layer Rulers. I also pulled out an older Spellbinder's Die to frame the image, when I looked to link this frame die it does not show up... so I'm guessing it's retired. They should bring it back and call it Lacey Rectangles to fit in with the current line! The card finishes up to be A2 sized.

Loved this new Cardinal on Tree stamp to make a quick and easy Holiday card! I used Spellbinder's Floral Ovals to frame the image..... tracing the inside of the oval die to get the layer for the image, the red layer was cut and torn along the dies pierced holes (resulting in a tiny rag edge) and the white layer uses the full die cut. I used the Cover-a-Card Large Quatrefoil stamp on the background... stamping red ink on red card stock.

Just a few Copics used to bring this to life .

I popped a few of the oval layers up with foam tape for dimension. I used Perfect Layers Rulers to do the matting on the card front. On the top corners, I added the detail with a Corner Chomper. Finished card size is an A2.

Super SIMPLE today! I pulled out the heat gun for a little embossing action on this one. Super simple design, this is my style if I am mass producing Holiday cards. I used the new Tapestry Banner on the left side of the card and I also gold embossed the Merry Christmas Sentiment. 

I used Spellbinder's Circles to cut out the sentiment and for an additional circle layer. I left the second circle in the die and used the inside edge of the die as a guide to add piercing around the edge. A little ribbon detailing and a few pearls to embellish.  Finished card size is an A2.

It seems I see hexagons and octagon shapes popping up everywhere in various companies designs...  I pulled out my old Spellbinder's Dies -  Large Octagons and Large Scalloped Octagons to play with for this card. This sweet little snowman was quick and easy to color and I loved the little candy cane skis!

Here are the Copics used. I used BG10 to add a halo around the image and I used B0000 to add a little blue tint to the snowman body. 

A few layers are popped up for dimension... of course it needed a bow. Finished card is an A2.

Of course I'm leading off with a new Gary Robertson image featuring his signature little black cat incorporated in to the design. No surprise there... right!!!! The design is actually a little larger than I show on my card... on top of the pumpkin stack it has a moon and a crow ... I covered and cut the image this time. 

Well.... here you can see what I cut and covered from the image. I used YR00 and YR0000 in the background. Lots of random fall colors for the leaves, bleeding the colors together.  I darkened the cat with C7.

I used a Cover-a Card Gingham stamp in the background... I think this is my most used CAC stamp! I created a hand cut banner for the "Spook-tacular" sentiment and bent it gently, curling it around my fingers. Under the banner I used Dimensional Silicone to "prop" it up and keep the bend in place. I used Perfect Layers Rulers to add all the layers to the card. FInished card size is an A2.

Summer Garden

Serendipity Stamps Day!

Serendipity has a sale running now through July 16, 2012. The sale is 20% off all animal stamps.... all sorts of animals in this category as well as words and phrases! 

Our theme is Garden today... easy peasy, because Serendipity has a zillion flowers and garden stamps that just beg to be colored up with Copics!

 The geranium! One of the only plants I ever have success with... meaning it lives more than a month! Eventually I forget to water it and it fries in the Georgia sun. A simple image that you can change to fit any color scheme. I used Spellbinder's Labels Eight to create the card base and layers. I typically color them red, but I forced myself to use this bright peachy color and do something different!

  Pretty quick to color. I stamped on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. You can see the Copics I used above.

  I added a layer inside the card with a beautiful friendship quote from Longfellow.

A few layers to the card front and a simple bow finish this off. A quick and easy summer card.

Window Cat

Every house needs a little kitty peeking out of the window!

An easy card for today! I colored the image and paired it up with a pretty Spellbinder's die Fleur de Lis Rectangles to show it off. 

I used the E30's for the swing. I used the E40's for the background and also the basket.

I made the cat a little darker... coloring it with C7. E44 for the flower centers. E90's on the flower pots. Y's on the flowers and curtains.

G40's on the leaves. I used the blender pen to blot at the leaves creating some highlights in the leaves.

I used Perfect Layer Rulers to frame the image. I popped the die up with foam tape. A little bow to finish it off.
