Stamp Simply #163 - Tis the Season for CAS

Oct. 29 – ssnotime163 – Tis the Season for Clean and Simple – Sharon says: Clean and Simple is definitely the way to go when we need to mass produce.  But it’s also a very refreshing and pleasing style to fall back on any time at all. Today let us truly think Clean and Simple – SUPER SIMPLE.  And let’s make cards with Christmas OR winter in mind as we inspire each other with all our Clean and Simple creations!

I consider most of my cards pretty simple... but I fall down on one basic CAS rule..... layers. I just can't NOT use layers. I'm always waiting to see if Sharon is gonna call me out  on ten layers on one card for a Stamp Simply Project, LOL.... In my defense, it is always "Stamped Simply".  BUT other than maybe an extra layer or two.... this is simple. Easy Peasy. I used Colored Pencils and Gamsol to color this little birdie.  A simple outline with a Micron Pen, using the inside of my nestie, adds another "frame". The fancy Lacey Square Nestie and Pearls being the only extras on this CAS card, and I did add just a tiny touch of Glossy Accents to the red berries. A small image that could be stamped multiple times and colored pretty quick for multiple cards. 

Craft Experiment - I filled an empty Copic pen with Gamsol.... I loved using it for the berries or small items-- the pen tip was perfect to do small areas. It released too much Gamsol and didn't spread the color well enough for larger areas. But it really was nice for the small touches and around edges. I have a hard time staying in the lines on the small areas when I'm using a paper stump.

Simple Season's Greetings

For this week's Design Team Challenge call from Serendipity Stamps, 

we were asked to create a simple Christmas Card. Please visit .... Amy,  Anya, Kathie and Lynda to see what they created for this  challenge!

I used Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol to color this poinsettia. My Copics are still front and center on my desk, but I decided to change it up and do something different. To color this image it took six minutes.... and I only used three colors: Crimson Red, Kelp Green and Sienna Brown. I used Gamsol and Paper Stumps to blend the color. Some simple mats and embellishments to complete. I have spent most of today working with Colored Pencils and Gamsol... rediscovering how easily and beautifully they can bring an image to life.

Stamp Simply #162 - Count your Blessings

Oct. 22 – ssnotime162 – Count your Blessings – The challenge from Sharon: We all have MUCH to be thankful for.  And with Thanksgiving approaching we are reminded to Count Those Blessings!!!  Today’s challenge is wide open, but it has an overall theme of THANKFULNESS.  Some ideas that come to my mind – a thank you note, a small hostess gift, a project featuring our children, home, friends, etc.  But the door is wide open – just create something that will in some way convey thanks for all our Blessings!  And PLEASE, tell us what Blessings YOU are thankful for as you create your project!

My card is stamped VERY simply! I let the paper do all the work on this card and just added a simple sentiment "Be Thankful".... I just got my hands on the new 6x6 Webster's Pages Collections and that is the paper I used. It is the prettiest paper EVER! I did think about the message while I made this card and I have so much to be thankful for, family and friends topping the list. Many friends made due in fact to blogging and being involved with this crazy hobby!

I used one of the newer Christmas stamps "Peace on Earth" for my center quote. I loved the quote and the beautiful script. I framed the quote with Spellbinder's Beaded Ovals Nesties, leaving the paper in the die while I airbrushed red around the edges. The sentiment and the Snowflake Background were both stamped with Versafine's Satin Red and then embossed with Clear Detail Powder. A few jewels and lace to finish it off.

Snowman Tower

 

Loved these little snowmen all stacked up! This year it seems all the Holiday Paper Collections are using olive greens and cranberry colors. Which I love, but the traditional greens and reds are a little more fun and I think sometimes better suited for this whimsical image. I stamped the sentiment along the edge multiple times, added a few pieces of DP to the card base and of course a bow to finish things up.  Here are the Copics I used to color these cute little snowmen. Stamp Simply #161 - Hard Rock Cafe

Oct. 15 – ssnotime161 – Hard Rock Café – Today we are thinking *hard rocks* -- NOT music – OR eating!!!  LOL!!! Think metals and stones as added elements for your project.  Metallic pens, metallic papers, and rhinestones -- gold, silver and diamonds – right?  Feel free to use copper, rubies, emeralds, pearls, etc.   Use these types of beauties to embellish and enhance your work today.

This challenge made think about vacations and the Hard Rock Cafes and Casinos I've been too.... LOL.... fun times!!!! I wanted to do something funky and different with my card. I had not used this stamp or this Nestie yet.  I thought this might be a cool stamp for a Halloween Party Invite. Keeping with the "rock/metals" theme I used Copper Metallic card stock and added jewels all around the edges. Don't know where the string came in to play... but felt compelled to wrap it around.... the little spokes sticking out of the nestie were telling me to wrap something around them! Would have been better if I had some spider web stuff to wrap around it!

For this week's Design Team Challenge call from Serendipity Stamps, 

we were asked to create a card with a hobby theme.... I picked something I thought any of you reading this could relate to and share with me! Please visit .... Amy,  Anya, and Lynda (Lynda will be posting a little later on Weds) to see what they created for this  challenge!

Since this challenge was hobby themed... I chose this mug of crafty looking art supplies. I paired it up with some Basic Grey papers from the Olivia Collection and added a little bow along the bottom edge. The mug panel and the the two panels on each side are popped up with foam tape and I rounded the outside corners. Lotsa layers but still a simple card.

Stamp Simply #160 - Back to Nature

Oct. 8 – ssnotime160 – Back to Nature –  Sharon says : Autumn is truly beautiful here in Upper Michigan – the changing of leaves from green to a rainbow of rich yellows, oranges and reds, the crunching of the fallen leaves underfoot, the sight and sounds of birds migrating south and the smell of applesauce cooking! I love this time of year!
      Today let us be inspired by Mother Nature in our creations – let’s create something with a natural, earthy feel reflective of ANY season YOU enjoy – it’s the natural/earthy element we are going for here, not necessarily autumn.

I love Autumn too! The leaf background is a stamp - one of the large Cover a Card stamps from Impression Obsession....I stamped in Memento Black and colored the leaves with Copics. I stamped the quote on a Twinchie (two inch inchie!). I also airbrushed around the edges. A few mats to complete this card... a quickie card! Coloring the leaves is not time consuming at all... I just added dabs of colors and then used a yellow Copic to smooth them all out and blend the colors together. A little jute string wraps around the inchie board and I added a little bow on top. Finished card size is an A2.

I have not done a lot of Halloween cards this year... YET. I still have time. One of my most favorite cards to make.... because really, anything goes - crazy colors, fun sayings.... and usually some little black cats! Not quite sure what color nutmeg is, I know it's brown... but not what shade.... and if you know me, then you know there was none in the cupboard for me to go peek at!!! LOL! And I kept a little dab of white in the mix to add a little pop.  A little soft Copic airbrushing around the edges for this little pumpkin and kitty card. I added a simple banner and button. In the background I used another Cover a Card Stamps - Gingham, I love using these to create my own custom backgrounds and papers. Sooooo versatile! I used a white gel pen to add the kitty whiskers. Finished card is an A2!

Winter Wishes

This card uses "From our House" a JustRite stamp set. Using Nesties and JustRite stamps can make for an easy card! The gorgeous paper in the background is from last years Bo Bunny Collection. The paper is what inspired this card. I loved the hint of glitz on the paper and the non-traditional colors too. Finished card size is an A2.

Oct. 1 – ssnotime159 – Three is the Number – Today’s challenge calls for us to think in 3’s.  Your project should incorporate 3 panels (as in background panels) OR 3 images (as in the focal point).  Things always look pleasing to the eye when grouped in 3’s, so let’s see what kind of eye-pleasing trios we can come up with today!

It's all about THREE tonight... and I kept to the challenge rules... this time, hee hee. 

Three buttons, three panels in the backgrounds and best of all..... THREE cute little kittens. Kept my card simple with clean lines and used Spellbinder's Labels 15 for my center panels. A few little stitch marks around the edges... cause it was just too clean and I just could not resist adding them. LOL.... I have a white gel pen addiction. Finished card is 5" square.

Since I was posting a kitty card I thought I would share a picture of my bad little cat.... He LOVES my light tent. As soon as he hears the click of the lights he appears.... He thinks it is his own little hot spot to hang out in. He was striking a profile pose for me.....actually... he thinks if he does not look at me then he can ignore me telling him to GET OUT.  He is nine pounds of total cat attitude and has me and the husband wrapped around his little paw!
