Stamp Simply #150 - Color Challenge

This week Sharon has issued a color challenge..... in Sharon's words....This week's colors are Green and Yellow, with either White OR Ivory as your neutral, and adding a little Black to make it POP is always a favorite of mine!  I think we'll see some striking creations with this color combo.  Here's a photo to help get those colorful and creative juices flowing.

AS soon as I saw this color challenge, I knew I would digging out my Basic Grey Origins Collection. I hardly have any left.... I have pretty much consumed two 6x6 pads of Origins.     One of my all time faves, for sure! The black background is Cuttlebugged too, but it's hard to see in the pic. I kept it simple with a stamped quote and let the crazy paper behind it serve as the "pop" for the card. A few little buttons tied up with some jute string finish it off.

Another Impression Obsession Sneaky Peak..... Raggedy Ann

I get to share another new image from Impression Obsession with you today..... Do kids still have Raggedy Ann dolls these days? I loved this image from artist Gary Robertson. This is another new one from Impression Obsession's Fall Line Up of new images. The design team is sharing sneak peeks all week long.... be sure and drop by the Impression Obsession Blog and see who else has new goodies to share! I kept the layout pretty clean and simple on this one -- letting the image be front and center. I used Copics to color up Raggedy Ann. Again, I used grey crystals.... I'm in a grey groove for sure! Finished card size is an A2.

This card shows off one of the new Cover a Card Background Stamps -- Newsprint. I LOVE this one and you will be seeing it make repeat appearances on my coming cards. I stamped the background in Grey on an Ivory card stock. The scene stamp.... well I used Copics to color it in... but really most of it was snowy, so not a whole lot of time spent coloring on this one. I did use BG000 to add a little bluish tint to the snow drifts. I might have to hide the grey card stock from myself.... I can't seem to break from using it lately.... even my crystals are grey! I seem to fall in color habits a lot lately! 

Make it about Christmas....

I'm thrilled to be playing along with the Serendipity Stamps Design Team.... on this challenge call we were asked to choose a Non-Holiday Image and then make it in to a Holiday card. Please visit .... Amy,  Anya, Kathie and Lynda to see what they created for this change it up challenge!

This candy jar was in the childhood section.  I just colored them to be peppermint sticks and added a Christmas Sentiment. Not very inventive, I know! The image is actually only one jar...I stamped it in the center once and masked it, then added another stamping on either side. Of course the jars got covered with Glossy Accents! I thought the CB folder I used mimicked the stripes on the Peppermint Sticks. I could not resist adding white stitch marks around, well.... around everything!

PINK Poinsettia

I know.... CHRISTMAS!!!! I have a few Christmas cards to share this week with you today and on Wednesday and Thursday too! Some CHA Sneaky Peeks will be showing up, so be sure and check back!

I think this would qualify as a CAS design. Pretty straight forward and not too fussy with a million layers. If I am doing multiples of a Christmas Card, this is exactly the type of design I would choose. 

I stamped the Poinsettia's on DP from October Afternoon and then cut them out, popping a little button bow in the center. I added some red sponging around the edges of the flowers too.  I love doing non-traditonal colors for Holiday cards.... I'll admit pink is a little off my path, but red and sky blue are some of my faves! The opal crystals added a just the right touch of sparkle. I curved the sentiment and added it with dimensional silicone. A cuttlebugged background is one the most simple and elegant looking backgrounds you can have on a card.... IMHO. On this card I embossed the red and ivory panel together, so the embossing is seamless on the two layers. Finished card is an A2.

I chose this image of Hat Boxes to play with for this "Classic" challenge.... I have two new favorite Copic Colors... E70 Ash Rose and E71 Champagne.... First of I love just the names of those colors... I used the E70 to Airbrush a little color around the sentiment and the image. I just love the soft dusky pink tones. After coloring the hat boxes with Copics I used the blender pretty liberally to strip away some color trying to give them a faded and aged look. I used Spellbinder's Curved Rectangles to die cut the image and the second two thinner layers around it were hand cut with scissors. The hat box panel is raised with foam tape and the sentiment in curved with silicone supporting it, so that it will keep the "bend" in place.  I added the beads at the end of the hat pin-- keeping them held in place by adding a dab of Crystal Lacquer in the hole. This card is not a standard size, measuring at 4 1/2"x 6 1/2".

Seaside Trio

Sadly, I'm not at the beach....so I settled for stamping up some Beach themed cards on my Weekly cards over at Outlines.

In the tutorial for this card you can see how I used Copics, Copic Blender Solution and Ranger's White Enamel to create the shells. I also share how I use Scor-Pal tape to secure the Jute string on my card.

I could not resist adding a little googly eyeball on this cute little seahorse! 

You know I'm a fan of Dimesional Silicone, thanks to my pal Jerri Jimenez who turned me on to this fun stuff. And I have used it on this card to create multiple heights on each element. Thanks, Jerri.... I'm so addicted to it and I use it more than foam tape now!!!

Prickley Pear -- NEW STAMPS -- Sneak Peek!

Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps is releasing 2 new sets of clear stamps with coordinating die cuts. Stamp Simply #148 - CAS Sketch Challenge

So maybe the dimensions are off a little on my card but it follows the sketch close enough. You think I would learn to print it out instead of making some chicken scratch drawing to follow. I love, love, love this butterfly and the woodgrain background stamp I used. The butterfly image actually has more to it, but I cut it out and only used a portion -  you can see the full image HERE. I used Copics to color and kept things pretty simple adding just some small embellishments. Finished card size is an A2.

IO Challenge - It's all about the Animals...

I know a dog on my blog.... SURPRISE!.... you could have bet on me making a kitty card, but you would have lost this one. I thought I would do a masculine dog card... break out and do something other than a cute little kitty cat. I have been wanting to practice coloring fur with Copics.... fur and skin always the hardest for me. This image has so much  shading, it makes it pretty easy and covers up my flaws. I used a few markers trying to add different tones.... E00, E31, Y21, YR31, E33 and E35. I sponged a little black ink around the edge of the stamped pieces and I also used the Woodgrain CB folder in the background. I'm loving all of the new CB folder that TIm Holtz designed.

CAS Birthday

I like it when one stamp can be used in different ways by cutting up elements. This is exactly what I did for these two Simple Birthday cards. Both use pieces of this image #H-1016 Sketchy Cupcake from Outlines Rubber Stamps.

 

Both cards feature DP from Kaisercraft's Hey Birdie 6x6 Collection.

Stamp Simply #147 - Christmas in July

The Stamp Simply Challenge today is about Christmas in July. I think every year I will get a head start and get cards done way in advance. I never do.  So here is a perfect jump start for all of you good planners out there, it is time to break out the Holiday stamps.

This image is actually three ornaments in a row, but I cut out the middle one to use on this card. I kept it simple and traditional in Christmas color. I love this Cuttlebug Folder, I think it was one of the very first that ever came out and I have embossed a lot of paper in it! I just love the snowflakes embossed in white.  I used Copics on the ornament and then jazzed things up using bling and glitter glue for sparkle.

Southwest

This is a trio of cards featuring the Southwest Layering Collage stamps from Outlines. The collage images they have are great because you can use use the full image of break it up and use pieces of the images to create a huge range of cards. All of these cards use Basic Grey's Marrakech Collection.

Stamp Simply #146 - Seeing Stars.......

I used a polka dotted star stamp from Hero Arts  and then cut it out, adding a few little twinkling crystals to the star's polka dots, as well as a row of them on the paper seam. I remember when I was so stingy with my crystals, before you could buy them everywhere.... I would have never put an entire line of them on one card!!! LOL!!!  I added a sentiment, overlapping the stamping on the blue layer too.  I did add a little distressing on the edges of the blue square by dragging it across on my ink pad. I kept it simple in design and stamping, keeping to the Stamp Simply Challenge..... no nesties or Copics, a rare event.... such a tiny little supply list below!!!  Finished card size is an A2.
