Stamp Simply #137 - 3D Flowers

I created two cards for today's challenge using the NEW Outlines stacking Wavy Posy Flowers. The stamps have really open flower petals making them ideal for paper piecing. The flowers also have an extra "edge" in the image you can see it on the blue flowers. I cut the edge off the yellow flowers, giving them a different look. Also they created a set of six different sentiment centers you can pop in the middle of the flowers. A smart way to create a fun floral card for any occasion, and I like when I can use something in more than one way! I popped the sentiment circle up on a button for the first card. All of the DP on both cards is from the October Afternoon's Fly a Kite Collection.... I'm just loving it and it might not leave my desk until I have used it up!

The second card I made uses the same style stamps. I stamped and cut out two flowers from the checked paper and then colored that extra edge with a Copic, helping to give the impression of more layers than there really is. I tucked some punched leaves under the blossom as well. To create the striped Cuttlebug background - I glued my yellow strip to the aqua paper, cut it to size, then ran both thru the CB folder. A few extra layers and DONE.

Trellis Rose

I made this card using the Around the Arbor set from Flourishes. I thought the trellis and rose were so pretty and you can also match up the edges of the trellis image to build this out in to a large trellis scene. I used Copics to color and then cut out the image with Spellbinder's Labels 8 Nesties. The additonal layers behind the image I just hand trimmed using scissors. The scalloped edges are from the Martha Stewart Trellis punch, but I didn't use the trellis part, just the edge. The white was too white in the background so I toned the white areas down using a Grey Copic and also used the same marker to darken the white silk ribbon just a tad.

Quickie Folding Note

A while ago I was looking thru the Scor-Pal site for some folded note projects and found this easy little fold over card. Here is a link to the tutorial on Scor-Pal. If you have not spent any time on the Scor_pal site, please take a few minutes and check out the amazing tutorials they have listed on the Projects Page! They have an great list of projects made especially for and with the Scor-Pal. 

I did change it up just a bit from the original idea and added the punched edge. My card is also double layered -- one piece of rust card stock and then the second layer is the Floral paper. This helped give it some sturdiness and I love that the inside is different than the outside base, you get the same look with double sided paper, but I really liked the added layer to help it stay strong. I used a Hero Arts Butterfly colored with Copics to match my paper. I added a dab of silicone right next to the body, to help pop the wings. Martha Stewart satin ribbon to make the band, attaching the two ends under the butterfly's base. The yummy paper on this card is from Kaisercraft's Devonshire Collection.

This little fold over note reminded me of the stationery kits I used to use when I was a girl. They folded up and usually a sticker was used to seal the flap. Anyone else remember those? 

Here is a similar card, but I used a Prima Flower for the embellishment and more paper to make the belly band. These were so quick and easy to make (and fun) that I can see making coordinating sets of them to give as gifts. 

Wild and Wooly!

So to get my mojo going again after my vacation break I went through some sketches I had saved but never got to play with and found this past TCP Tuesday challenge, it was a great sketch.... it got me ready to hop right back in the stamping saddle! I pulled out some TCP stamps and the October Afternoon's "Fly a Kite" Paper Collection and got right to it. I thought the background papers looked kind of quilt like and would fit nicely with Sprinkle and her knitting!

Of course, Sprinkle always has her bling on!!!

I used some pink jute string to embellish the scalloped nestie. I added a hole in each of the scallops using my Japanese Screw Punch and the threaded the jute string throuhg to make the framed rope look. I glued a small little bow on to finish things up!

Basic Grey -Kioshi Collection

Every month my Local Stamp Store (Impressive Ideas) hosts classes using the Basic Grey Kits. The kits usually feature the latest release of 6x6 Paper Collections and are always generous in materials, but they lack any stamping. SO.... I will change them up a bit and add some stamping, modify layouts and add simple embellishments. The cards are basic in layout and quick and fun. I thought I would share some of this month's cards from the Kioshi Collection. All of the stamped sentiments are from Flourishes "Tag Lines" Stamp set.

I colored this pretty hummingbird image with Copics adding some soft airbrushing around the edges of my nestie using Copic Y28. I paired it with the Einstien quote and added a few embellishments to dress things up a bit. Finished card is 5 3/4" Square.

I am having some issues with Blogger and that's why my post looks funny today. Grrrr.

IO Challenge - Back to High School

The Impression Obsession Challenge for today was a different one..... All of our cards are using different colors. We were challenged to create a card using our High School colors, obviously mine were green and white.

It was more difficult than I thought it would be to create a green and white only card. I could only think about doing St. Patrick s Day or a Golf card. I used a Father's Day Golf Clear Set to stamp the sentiment and the little golf green. I also used the Wood Grain background inked with Certainly Celery to add an additional layer. I used two Copics to color my simple image YG03 and YG05.

I embossed half of the white background using a Cuttlebug Folder, the other half I used my Scor-Pal to emboss repeated lines next to each other. It's hard to see in the picture, and this is one that looks better in person than in a photo. Finished card is 5 3/4" Square.

Birthday Birdies

The little image on this card is not a stamp, but just an image cut out from pretty paper - Webster's Pages paper collection "Nature's Storybook". The papers are yummy. Vintage feeling but with a pop of fantastic color.

I chose these little birdies to cut out and make a quick birthday card with. Lots of layering, with the printed papers also being from the same paper collection. I added some cris-cross scoring using my Scor-Pal and a simple birthday sentiment. Finished card is 5" Square.

I was thinking I had not inked up TCP's adorable Sprinkle in quite some time. So I pulled open the TCP drawer and found this stamp, perfect for today's challenge theme. I love this color combo -- it is always striking on any card. I paired up Sprinkle with some cute school chalkboard paper I found in my stash. Simply stamped in black with a few red highlights on Sprinkle using a R29 Copic Marker. I curled the sentiment and used 3D Silicone behind it to make sure it holds it's form.

Glitzy Butterfly

This is another simple little card, featuring Microfine Glitter. I used the Spellbinder's Butterfly die to create my dazzling die cuts. The bottom butterfly is a solid butterfly image and I cut it out from Scor-Pal 6x6 Sheets, double sided peel off tape sheets. I applied my MicroFine Glitter by just dumping it on and then burnishing down with a bone folder. I used a little 3d Silicone under the top Butterfly wings (right next to the body) to keep the wings propped up. A simple layout and card with a little glitz!

Birds on a Wire

OK -- so I have been absent.... I have not been able to tear myself away from playing with my ipad and reading books on it. I am amazed with what the ipad can do and how fast it is. I absolutely love it!

So..... a quickie post and a quickie card for today. I used Micro Fine Glitter and Scor-Tape to create the glittered borders along side the birdie DP. Peel back the tape liner, apply glitter and burnish it down using a bone folder. pretty quick and easy. Being a non-glitter girl.... this has a totally unique appeal that is different than normal glitter. It lies completely flat after you burnish it down and has none of the chunky glitter feel or look. Most importantly it does not rub off on your fingers.

Stamp Simply #133 - April 2nd - Chipboard Challenge

As the first challenge of a new month one of the DT members gets to call the shots -- Janine was up this month and issued today's challenge call -- Telling us to get busy using all the chipboard we have bought and stashed. A great challenge for me, because that summed it up -- I have large chipboard, pieces, alphabets... you name it... but I never reach for it. A great reminder to use stuff that you stash in drawers!!

So I think I did good and kept things simple on my card. I'm always afraid Sharon is gonna give me the boot for breaking the simple rule with twenty layers!!! LOL! Only three layers tonight, I was short on time! Really, this is a simple one, I didn't even fuss it up with any doodles. I liked the combination of the taupe color and the clean crisp white. All of the paper on this card is from the Juliette Collections from SEI. The collection features a lot of pink too, but I chose pieces that just had this pretty taupe color and then mixed in some bright white card stock. A simple layout of paper panels and a strip of ribbon to border, I use Scor-Pal tape to hold my ribbon strips.

Oh yeah, where is my chipboard??? I covered a piece of chip board with another piece of patterned paper and then die cut it with a Peony Shaped Nestie. I bought the coordinating epoxy embellishments to match the paper (of course) and added that on top of my covered chip board! When I looked at that sticker, it reminded me of the similar Nestie shape and I think they paired up nicely. A very simply stamped sentiment, which I curved just running it thru my fingers to bend. I stamped the sentiment in Versafine's Smokey Grey -- which was a perfect match to the color on my paper, sometimes it just all comes together! Finished card size is a 5" Square.
