Stamp Simply #141- Simply Patriotic

Sharon issued a great challenge to kick off this Holiday weekend. Play along and link your project on Sharon's blog, No Time to Stamp using Mr. Linky.  Here is how Sharon explains today's theme....

May 28 - ssnotime141 - Flying High and Proud Color Challenge
This marks the beginning of Memorial Day Weekend in the USA, a time we remember and honor those who have so bravely and proudly served our country. Realizing we have blog readers that span the world, today our challenge is to make a card or any project using the colors in your country's flag. The project can be patriotic in nature, but it's not necessary. PLEASE when you upload your creation, tell us your country and your flag's colors. It'll be fun to see how many different countries we see!!!

Don't miss the fabulous, patriotic color themed projects created by the rest of the "Stamp Simply" team:

Barbara Anders: Paper Pursuits; Sharon Johnson, Our Stamp Simply Leader: No Time to Stamp?; Janine Orchard: 2BKrafty; AJ Otto: The Willow Garden; Deb Saaranen: Dream in Color; Barb Schram: Explore. Dream. Discover., and tonight we're saying goodbye to our Guest Stamper for May, Teresa Kline: Enjoy the VA Sunshine.

I kept it very simple as I was short on time tonight. I knew it had to be red, white and blue and I couldn't find a patriotic stamp that caught my eye to play with.... so I went in the drawer that holds all my Cat's Pajama's stamps.... this little penguin looked like he had never been inked up, and I thought I should show him some inky love. Simple layers can take on a completely new look when you add some stitch marks. I colored my birthday penguin up with some Copics.  The oval shape is one of the nesties from the last release-- I love these loooong and skinny Mega Ovals. I used an .05 Black Micron for the faux stitches. I made a red silk bow with the Bow Easy at added it at the end of the oval, love the way silk ribbon ties and cinches down so nice and tight in the bow's center! On the balloon and the little party horn I added a touch of Rock Candy Stickles for some dimension with out having too much shine. Final card size is an A2.
