Hanging out with Sharon and BLOG CANDY!

So this is my card for Sharon's Friday Challenge this week.... My second week as her Guest Stamper... ohhhh, this month is going too quickly! Sharon issued the challenge to "HANG IT UP" -- to use a hanging tag or hanging charm on your card. Or make a project that *hangs*, or stamp an image of something this is hanging. Please check out the great samples for the Stamp Simply Challenge today on the blogs of these very creative designers:

BUT.... Before you go surfing around, head to the end of this post for BLOG CANDY!
So this is what I came up with for the Challenge. A simple layout using my Curved Rectangle Nesties for the card shape. The suspended charm I created with a Shoe Brad on a White Circle, inserted in the Silver Circle Frame, and then backed with a black scalloped circle. I was thinking I might put a magnet on the back of the charm, then you can snip the ribbon and have a fun magnet. I love the look of something suspended on the card and now with Nesties, it is so much easier to create a suspended project! I used only Black Ink on White Card Stock and then the additional layers were cut using scissors. Some mini dots around the border, bling and ribbon to finish it up! Now..... it's time for

BLOG CANDY!

The stamps used to make this card are all from Repeat Impressions and they put a $25 Gift Certificate up for grabs! How to win, you ask? Leave me a comment on this post sharing something "shoe related".... your favorite color of shoe, the most you ever spent on a pair of shoes (I won't tell!), you hate wearing shoes.... you get the idea... share a little shoe story! Look forward to hearing all about shoes! Now I'm wishing Sex and the City was still going... all this shoe talk makes me miss the girls! If you want to post a blog candy link on your blog that would be great, but not neccesary. Want to see more cards I have made using Repeat Impressions Images? Click here!
I will use the random number thingy to pick a name and post the winner at 8PM Easter Sunday night, so check back to see if your name came up!

  1. This is a fantastic card Jenny - I love it! Your suspended shoe charm is just awesome and the colours are so striking! Well, when I lived in S.America I used to wear sandals made out of old car tires - just like the locals!! I still have them somewhere for memories sake!
    Have a fabulous Easter!
    Hugs, Danielle

  2. You asked - Herewith - I'd go barefoot every day of the year if it weren't for the fact that we have lots of ice in the winter here. So........ since I have to wear something shoe-like, I opt for geriatric, earth mother-type shoes! The joke is that they are totally handmade in Germany, cost $225 a pair, I got rid of my faschiitis the first day I wore them, and for $30 you buy a new insert for the footbed, and voila, a new pair of shoes! FAB - I have MANY pairs of them, but will NOT reveal just how many!

Loved your card -- as always! But Martha must have taken a long trip somewhere (to get new shoes).....

  3. Love your card! Just beautiful!
I live in the town where Crocs are headquartered. Last December they had their very first warehouse sale. On my way in I saw folks leaving with GIGANTIC bags of shoes. I thought it was silly. Well, 2 hours later, out I walk with 15 pairs of crocs, for myself (5 pairs of mary janes @ $5.00 each-yeah!), my husband, my mom, my friend, my brother-in-law....

  4. Love your card, Jenny - it is so classy -- totally gorgeous and GREAT hanging feature for the challenge. I don't need to be entered for the Candy, but I just like ANY pair of shoes that feels comfortable on these weary, over-burdened feet -- LOL!!!

  5. Wow, I just found you from the Stamp Simply challenge. I love your cards. So pretty. I hate to buy shoes...but my sister loves them. I decided to give her a fabulous pair of Stuart Weitzman shoes for Christmas one year...I paid full price and she won't wear them because she doesn't want to ruin them! Go figure.

  7. I had a vintage pair of shoes that I really loved. I think they were by Perry Ellis. My daughter forgot her shoes when she got married and last minute borrowed my lovely Perry Ellis shoes. I never saw them again. No one knows what happened to them. In my memory they were the most beautiful shoes ever - Nimmy

  8. Gorgeous card!!! Well, I used to wear shoes because they were pretty. Last year I got plantar faciitis and started wearing Crocs. My feet haven't bothered me since and I only wear dress shoes when I HAVE to, LOL! Thanks for the chance for this awesome candy!!

  9. Hi Jenny

Love your card, and I also adore black, white and red together. Hmmm....shoes are something I never have trouble buying. I can buy heaps of shoes, buying a dress is another story. For my daughter's wedding I paid nearly $400 for a pair of shoes that fit perfectly and are so comfortable and I have only worn them half a dozen times.

    Happy Easter!

  10. Your card is lovely - the color scheme is my favorite! As for shoes....sigh...I used to have many wonderful shoes of every color, style, and price. Now, I live in one pair of tennis shoes, and spend money on inserts! I smile, though when I see others in fabulous shoes! My favorite stamp set is a TAC set, and has a sentiment "Those shoes make you look so skinny"!!! Have a good night!

  11. WOWZA! this card is stunning! Love the quote and the high heel shoe!
My most comfortable pair of shoes is a pair of Hush Puppies men's dock shoes. I've had them about 15 years and they are still in good shape. They are suede tops and only just starting to crack with age. The soles are still in great shape and I wear them every weekend. I'm mostly a barefootin' southern girl.
Thanks for the opportunity to wind some blog candy!

  14. LOVE, love, love this card. Probably because I love shoes, but I also love the colors, the clean layout, and all of the detaisl you put into it. This is probably one of my favorite cards that I have ever seen and I mean that. So, I love beautiful shoes, but on most days you will catch me in flip-flops because they are comfortable and I love to let my feet feel the air. I always wear polish for this reason. The most I have ever spent on a pair of shoes was the $90 pair of Jessica Simpson shoes I bought about a year ago. They are killer, I mean gorgeous, but after I wear them for about an hour my feet go completely numb because they are so tall. I guess that beats having sore feet....I still wear them on special nights because they are beautiful and make me look so much taller.

  15. Jenny, that card is so eyecatching! And what fun blog candy. I have always appreciate shoes, but I will never be the shoe fiend that my 17 year old son is. Because he works in a nice shoe store part-time while going to high school, he is constantly tempted and believe me, he does not resist temptation often. I bet he spends $400/month on shoes. This is probably only 4 pair per month, but it is outrageous how fast that adds up and what his shoe closet looks like.

  16. Funny you should ask? I never wear high heels but i had an urge to wear them today and so I put some on and pranced around the house

  17. Very lovely shoe card. It was interesting to read everyone's shoe story. I too have trouble with my feet and can only wear gym shoes without them hurting. That doesn't stop me from looking at all the beautiful shoes out there and get jealous!

  18. Hi Jenny!! Don't enter me in for the candy... Love your card.. Black, white and red is so classic..The shoe is a great addition. Me- I an a purseaholic.

  19. Cute card! When I was a little girl my mom and I had a "discussion" well almost argument because I always wanted to go barefoot - I had a doctors appt. and she said we will let the doc decide if that is good for you feet - well, he agreed with me!! and I still love to go barefoot!

  20. GORGEOUS CARD!!! Love the card so classy!!! Look at all those silver pearls - LOL - love them too!!!

  21. Really gorgeous card! I am most comfortable in my slippers barefoot. I don't wear heals often because I feel like I am on stilts.

  22. I have a shoe story. When I was in high school, back when we wrote on stone tablets, I was in Kmart trying on a pair of shoes. There were several pairs that I wanted to try, so I'd put one on and hobble around the area because they were tied together with that stretchy string. I didn't really like any of them so I put them all back and started to put on my shoes and one was missing. I looked all in the bins where I'd been trying on shoes and it wasn't there. The problem was that I had to get to my piano lessons but I could only find one shoe. I had to buy a pair of shoes in order to leave. (it was winter in the Midwest and I had to have shoes on because it was cold). They later found my shoe about 3 aisles over. I've learned to keep track of my own shoes while I'm trying on others! 24. I love your card! Love the music bg, the medalion with the shoe... adorable. I am barefooted all the time in the house, wear flip flops if at all possible when I go out, or wear Clark's.

  25. Great card.

My shoe story is just that I *hate* wearing shoes. If I could go barefoot everyday I would. I try wear flip flops or other slip on shoes as soon as the snow melts in the spring, and until the snow falls in the fall.

  26. I am to blame for my 5yo daughters shoe obsession. Who can resist those cute baby and little girl shoes. When we go shopping she must try every pair. she lines them up in order of how desperatly she NEEDS them. If they have a heel, she has to have them.

  27. Wow what a gorgeous card, love the red shoe, this card is striking and really shouts WOW!!
I like summer best because its flip flop season here in Minnesota!! I like to have a variety of colors to go with what I am wearing. So having a large variety in many colors is necessary for me!

I think your card is exquisite! I love your attention to detail.

I would like to share my favorite shoe quote, courtesy of Papertrey Ink:

Thanks for a chance to win that gift certificate!

  31. Great card! Love that little shoe charm. As for shoes I kick them off as soon as I walk in the door! I'd live in flip flops all year long if it weren't for winter! I've started wearing them already even though it's still a bit chilly for them! Thanks for the chance to win!

  32. I love love love shoes, always have about 100 pairs in stock, AFTER giving away about that many! Sure wish I could find someone who wears size 5.5 to sell them to (cheap). My absolute favorite shoe was in NYC at the Manilo Blaknik store. All of them are gorgeous, but one was made of peacock feathers and truly awesome, with the awesome price of $1300.00. I took a picture of it and then ran out the door before they threw me out.

  33. What a gorgeous card! I love it! as for shoes---I don't own very many pairs. I can't wear high heels--must be flat--and it's so hard to find cute, flat shoes. I really miss fun, girly, sexy heels.

  36. Love all your cards, as well as your blog site. My favorite shoes would have to be my tennis shoes with supports!

  37. Hi Jenny! This is lovely! What a fun card and cool embellishment! My shoe story is from when I was a little girl....my dad dropped me off to go to Sunday School and as I was walking up the sidewalk, I looked down to see that I had on one penny loafer, and one patent leather Mary Jane. I had just stuck each foot under my bed, put on a shoe and never even bothered to check if they matched! I had to suffer through all Sunday School with mismatched shoes!
Thanks for the opportunity to win some fine candy!

  38. Oh Jenny - this card is over the top cute! I actually chuckled at the sentiment-- how true! Well, I have a funny shoe story! I used to be a reporter at our local TV station and I would come to work in suits and heels -- you know-- all gussied up. Well, my editor always told me - you need to bring and keep a pair of work style boots. You never know when you will have to go tromping into a wildfire or off the beaten path to an accident site. So, let's just say - that was good advice. I'd ditch the shoes and leave them under my desk and put on the work boots. Somehow, I'd always seem to leave the heels at work. One day, I counted and I had 20 pairs of shoes under my desk. It got so bad, they started calling me Imelda (for Imelda Marcos and her shoe fetish!) UGH! They still call me that by the way!!!!

    :-)

  39. Just love this card ! Shoes are fun ! I have changed so much over the years . I used to buy every pair of fancy shoes I saw ( almost ) but today I usually stay with the colorful flats or the Born brand ... guess I have gotten pretty middle-aged in my thinking ! Slippers work for me too !

  40. So cute! Personally I haven't worn high heeled shoes in so many years I can't even begin to remember...or maybe that's the old age setting in. I prefer Dr. Scholls or some very comfy type shoe now. Pat

  41. What a wonderfully gorgeous card! I spent $85 dollars on a pair of mountaineering boots! Not very glamourous, but I have had them for over 11 years and they totally keep my feet dry when I am hiking! This is a huge amount of money for me, because I totally trash shoes and therefore never buy expensive shoes!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Fabulous & creative artwork! My absolute favorite brand of shoes is Clarks! The most I've ever paid for a pair of shoes is $100! The cheapest was $6.99 for sandals!

  43. Adorable card! A woman can never have too many shoes:) Shoes are my downfall - all colors, all styles - love em all!!

  44. Congratulations! Great card and you're a PTI guest designer too. Shoes--I always want the ones I can't wear, sigh. But now I can stamp them out to my heart's content.

Her Christmas tree is entirely decorated in shoe ornaments. She calls it her "Shoe Tree" Each year for Christmas and her birthday I give her shoe ornaments and a card with shoe images.

  48. What a fun card! It reminds me of my friend who has such tiny feet (size 4, AA width), that when she actually finds her size, she buys multiple colors! We used to kid her that she could buy her shoes in the children's department; the only catch was she couldn't find any heels!

  49. Great card! I hate buying shoes. I have small feet wearing from a 2-4. My story, While at work one day our Admin Asst. daughter was visiting. She was 7 at that time. She looked at my little blue pumps - hard for me to find anything that fits as it is - they fit her perfectly. The next day she was back and brought me her sandals she had "outgrown" and they fit me perfectly. Of course her mom had to tell everyone about it. But, never look a gift horse in the mouth or whatever the saying is - I still have the shoes and wear them sometimes!

  50. WOW! Love the card. The black, white and red work well together with this theme.

I bought my 2 year old some green sparkly glitter tinkerbell shoes this Christmas. They are too small for her, but I love looking at them. yummy.

thanks for your inspirations and best to you as a guest designer.

  51. It's fun to see the styles of shoes change over the years. The shoes my grandmother wore became stylish a few years ago and I would not have anything to do with them. Spike heels were popular when I was young, but I think they are even higher now. Woe to our arches! Don't have many Repeat Impressions stamps so would love to win the gift certificate. Love your card today.

  54. You know that saying: "If the shoe fits, buy it in every color!"

My big shoe secret is that I am a Birkenstock addict. I only wear Birks! I have a dozen pairs of clogs in different colors and styles, and maybe 20 pairs of sandals in all different colors and styles. They are the only shoes I am comfortable wearing since the car accident where I injured my back.

  55. Great card, Jenny. Love the charm you suspended. And the colors... Go DAWGS! Anyway, my favorite shoes of all time would have to be some sandals I had back in high school. We called them water buffalo's. They were from all leather, from India, I think. All of us "hippies" wore them. I don't think I've worn any other shoes as thin as I wore those sandals. It was a sad day when they gave up. I saved them for years.

  56. How fun, wonderful card. I had to chuckle at your blog candy question because as I was out walking in my favorite New BAlance shoes I passed the Yoga studio. On her door was a picture of a stylish shoe and a gentle reminder to "Please take you Gorgeous Shoes off at the door!" sign!

  57. What a unique layout using that Nestability. I purchased it but always stumble on how to best use it! Your card has definitely given me ideas! Shoe Stories? Hmmmm.. Red shoes??? I used to be able to wear heels and wedge shoes until a few years ago when I dislocated and broke my ankle!! My doggie tried to hug me while I was standing at the kitchen table and it was a freaky accident - my body turned but my foot stayed planted on the carpet!!! What did I see after it happened??? My poor dangling foot in this nice red shoe!! So never again for red shoes except on cards! That's the best way :-> And your card was perfect... red AND heels. Could a girl ask for anything else!!

  58. Like your card. My shoe story is I hated to ruin my shoes when it rained so I had a pair of "rain shoes"... a old stretched out pair, that I kept in my car. I'd wear these when it was raining and if necessary carry my nice shoes in to work. One rainy day I slipped on my "rain shoes" and proceeded through a wet parking lot only to have the uppers of one shoe pull apart from the soles. Of course, I was not carrying my other shoes because I was just running in somewhere quick.

  59. Your card is fabulous! I love the layers and the row of pearls (and of course, the shoe!). I wear combat boots for work (which are also probably the most expensive shoes I've ever bought, except MAYBE a pair of running shoes), so when I'm not work I tend to wear flip flops. My current pair will celebrate their second birthday at the end of the month. I've been looking for a new pair, but I'm surprisingly picky about shoes for someone who isn't all that into them. So I guessed my pickiness really makes me frugal in the shoe department. Who knew it could be so hard to find a pair of flip flops that are worthy of my feet?

  60. Beautiful card.... I love the shoe charm!
I prefer to go barefoot whenever possible, but not outside. I wear shoes or sandals when I go out. But they come off the minute I'm back in the house.
I'll tell my shoe story.... When I was a kid I had very wide feet and the only type of shoe that fit my feet were some special kind. They were brown leather, and looked like boy's shoes more than girl's. I cried every morning when my Mom put them on me to go to school. I was in kindergarten at the time. I did outgrow the foot problem requiring special shoes, but it was a traumatic time for a little girl.

  61. I am a shoe addict! I LOVE shoes! The best thing to happen to me lately has been my daughter. She is now, at nine, wearing the same size shoes! My shoe wardrobe has doubled AND I can buy shoes for her knowing she will outgrow them and I can inherit them! How cool is that? - Mary R.

  62. Love love love your card! The musical bg is perfect as aren't shoes magical??

My shoe story is a sad one. I love shoes (like most gals), and had my share of a massive collection! Then, I had 2 babies in a row and my feet suffered! Now, not only has my shoe size gone up 1/2 a size (good bye to my collection -sob), but I have a ligament condition in my feet now and CAN'T wear any shoes with any height to them! sob! So, it's tennis shoes and flats for me now!
