One Sick Cat
OK... don't fall out... so many postings lately. I know it seems it's feast or famine with me. Anyhow on to the card... This card was inspired by The Cat's Pajama's Design Team's Weekly Challenges. I just found this challenge a little while ago and have been wanting to participate as I love their stamps, a little biased to the cat stamps. Every Tuesday a member of TCP's Design Team hosts the challenge and posts on their blog. Then there is a special gallery for each challenge on SCS. This week's challenge can be found here TCP TUESDAY #13 - COLOR CHALLENGE and other challenge cards in the Splitcoast Gallery. This weeks challenge was to use Olive, Dark Red and Soft Sky... colors I would have never thrown together on my own. Sick Kitty is stamped twice in black and colored with Copics, I cut a second image of the cat and bedspread to give it some "lift" from the bed frame. The two frames around him are cut with nesties and popped up raising the frame around the image. Going to send this card to my dad who is not feeling great and has a strong dislike for cats (to put it nicely), loving daughter that I am. Heehehhee. No worries to him seeing it early as I'm sure he does not frequent my "cat" blog. Blog Candy & a Card

Last day to sign up for blog candy.... leave a comment under this posting Designer Dragon for your chance at some Nesties. I'll print the names and draw a winner after midnight today. Winner posted Saturday, June 28. Only 10 people have left a comment... which tells me no one wants it or everyone is deleting my posts before they read it.... hmmmm. Regardless, chances of winning are in your favor!
This card again is about using pattern paper. The circle paper is from Basic Grey, it came with an accompanying tag with the same pattern in a smaller version. Which got me thinking you could do this with any patterned paper... just scan or copy your favorite paper and then shrink it down to have a coordinating focal image. The little green thingies are usually for the center of prima flowers but I stuck them under the flower and they just flop around. My husband would ask why does the paper look dirty, and still not understand if I tried to explain "distressed or shabby"! I had to rough up the blue/periwinkle layer that adhered to the card.... I got to the last step and realized my whole panel was crooked. So I just roughed it up with the edge of my scissors so nothing was perfect and stuck it on! A mistake has many ways to "work out" in the end (well, most of the time-- some things are unable to escape the trash bin).
Thanks to all of you who do leave comments, really I love reading them, including anything you feel is missing that I need to be doing... leave a note.

Just Because

On to the card.... This paper was part of a stamping kit, so the goal of the card was to show off the patterned paper. For my main image I used Chocolate Chip ink and the flowers from SU's Happy Harmony set. I sponged the edges with chocolate chip too. The inner white border I drew along the nestie's frame before I popped my cut piece out. For the sentiment I used Versamark and White Detail EP. Added some little pearl decorations and I used Textile CB folder on my torn piece. Matted the base of the card in coordinating colors and ... DONE. Finished Card measures 4 3/4" x 9".
RECIPE: Stamps: Sentiment by aMuse, Flower / SU Happy Harmony Ink: Chocolate Chip, Versamark, White Detail EP, White Signo Gel Pen Paper: Chocolate Chip, Misc. Green Cardstock, White, Patterned Paper by Basic Grey Other: Sheer White Ribbon, Green/ Brown Silky Ribbon, 5 half back pearls, Perfect Layers, Nesties, CB Textile

Designer Dragon
card from Take Ten Summer Design Challenge Reject Pile! I did get a card published for the challenge, but it was my least favorite of what I sent to them. Just goes to show.. different tastes, opinions and visions. Everyone shares the publications and I thought it would be fun to share what didn't make it for a change. Anyway, this was a reject, but I like it! I have a few stamps that are my all time favorites, this little dragon is in that category. The wooden block looks like it was used as target practice for paint ball, it is so ink stained! I also love the sentiment. The "Daisy D" paper was certainly the inspiration starting point on this card. The circles of course were cut with Nesties. I embossed the dragon and then used a fine brown marker the help define the lines in between the embossed parts. I used a sponge and dabbed the blue and brown to help tie in with the Pattern Paper backgounds. And now that I am looking at this card again I notice the sentiment is completely crooked-- maybe there is a reason it was rejected!! I scanned it super quick and never looked back at it until tonite! RECIPE: Stamps: Dragon / Rubber Stampede, Sentiment / Amuse Ink: Chocolate Chip, Versamark, Chinese Red EP, Fine Tip Brown Marker, Aqua Chalk Ink Paper: Designer paper by Daisy D, Misc Cardstock- Red/ Brown / Aqua/ White Other: Half Pearls, Ticket Punch, Copper Brads, Nesties, Perfect Layers

Sick Chick
This Sick Chick Card was designed for the Design Challenge in the Summer issue of Take 10 and rejected. The Layout was the only theme we had to follow. But sadly the sick chicken card did not make the cut. It is a 10 minute card to make, which most of the cards I see in that magazine I question whether you could really make that card in 10 minutes. The chicken soup stamp is from The Cat's Pajama's-- the stamp has a spoon on it too, next to the bowl, but I left off the spoon. I stamped the chicken/bowl in red and navy and then pieced my red chicken back in to the bowl. All of the circles were cut with Nesties, of course and both stamps are from The Cat's Pajamas. Patterned paper is from Scenic Route Paper Company. Card size 4 ¼ x 5 ½. Sunday, June 8, 2008
